Loving Boots 17 Magnetized Nail Polish

I am late (very unlike me..) with trying the 'new' trend after Barry M's crack-effect, the amazing magnetised nail polish. I am in love with this! I tried out Boots 17 range which is available in 4 colours - silver, purple, blue and green - because, to be honest, its the cheapest at £5.99 ( 3 for 2 at the moment). I read quite a few bad points about the polish noting that the pattern is not consistent, but for me all the patterns on both my hands are pretty similar. Even if it isn't, surely the odd patterns here and there make it look nicer?! The magnetised effect nail polish creates a sick 3D / tie-dye / galaxy / metallic texturised effect, a total contrast to your usual boring manicure. All you have to do to create this effect is hover the magnet(?attached to the bottle top) above the just polished nails for a few seconds. The easiest way to create amazing looking nails! Defiantly worth a try, my favourite is the green. Let's see how long this nail trend will last....

INSA Girls on Bikes Exhibition Launch

Nike x Liberty Blazer Kara's Trees - Summer 2011 Collection

I have been meaning to write this for the LONGEST time. Just an update and photo of me, taken by this AMAZING person ;-D, and my 3rd pair of Nike x Liberty kicks - "Kara's Trees", this one being from the summer 2011 collection; a collection I was quite excited about. I got these way back in April! Such a while back now. My hair is neither that long nor that colour. I am also a load paler.

Just a quick post to say "HEY" and "WHAT UP". I have been neglecting Leoparad Print and Lace for a little while now, little things like life takes over, and you just run out of time to do things you love; like write and blog. I must not let this happen again. So many times over the past 6 months I have been saying I should blog this and blog that, but I just never have time. I now write on the Shoparazzi blog, so check it out when you can or if you are just missing my words of wisdom! Nothing about me but it is very informative about places to shop and sales to hit, even if I do say so myself. And, download the Shoparazzi App too. Its FREE. Nice plug eh?

Watch from 3.03 to see Beyonce's amazing performance! It is too sick, the play with graphics, the dancing, Beyonce proving once again no one out there has a thing on her. Nobody can do it like Beyonce!! I wasn't a fan of this song but this performance has made this song grow on me :D! I haven't been this excited about a new artist for a very, very long time. When I first heard his mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra, a couple of months back, it was the only thing I listened to: each track back to back for hours and days on end. I just love it. If you are the very few who have yet to hear it, I highly suggest you download it ASAP (Frank Ocean - Nostalgia, Ultra Mixtape). There will be an official release of his album through Def Jam on the 26th of July, which I guess will feature this track as it isn't on the current mixtape. I really hope the official release of Nostalgia, Ultra will feature new music from Ocean, he is truly amazing. This 1.57 second track is on constant reply as I'm writing this, His Voice. I DIE! I heard he is coming to London soon, believe me when I say I have to and will do everything in my power to see him!

Lomography Coloursplash Camera, 35mm, and Polaroids

Laura from The Polite Parisienne got to play with her new toy all last week, namely her Lomography Coloursplash camera. She collected the pictures from the developers (hold tight Jessops) and the results were amazing. We didn't even know if any of the pictures would come out because someone opened the back of the camera, potentially exposing the film, stupid ass!

Who doesn't love the unexpectedness of the photographs when it has finally been developed and the graininess, slight off colouring result of the images? Using a 35mm film is a lot more fun, and the less-than-perfect photographs are that little bit more appealing in this age of expensive digital cameras and overly complicated SLR cameras! Personally, it just makes me appreciate the old-school style of developing as well as eliminating the need to always have absolutely perfect and flawless photographs (no matter how amazing the results) that we see so much in the blogsphere and on tumblr after tumblr. There is no option of constantly re-taking pictures because the first wasn't good enough/you don't look hot enough, if you look ugly, bitch, you will look ugly! I am going LA, San Francisco and Las Vegas in about three weeks and will most definitely be bringing a 35mm camera (and a whole load of film) along for the ride, as well as my trusty compact Canon.

Nike x Liberty Summer 2011 Collection

Nike are once again collaborating with Liberty of London to release another amazing collection of sneakers especially for the ladies - perfect for the upcoming summer months! This will be the third time Nike and Liberty have come together to create floral printed kicks, this collection being the biggest to date with 12 pairs set for release. Previously only 3 or 4 styles were released per collection, those being exclusive to Liberty and a few stores including 1948 in East London and Offspring. You can only imagine how hard it was to get your hands on a pair, trust me I KNOW! I missed out on the first collection (2008) but I did get a pair of dunks from the collection in 2009. Read about my struggle on a very OLD "I Got My Heart Broken on Valentine's Day" post and please excuse the cringy photos, it was 2009. I wish I wasn't such a stingy cow back then because I regret not getting the orange ditsy floral Blazers.. :( *sighhh*.

April 1st 2011 will see the general release of the Nike x Liberty SS2011 collection, this time round they will be widely available up and down the country so fear not you will get a pair somewhere! I've been waiting since December to find out when these were coming out. I only have my eyes set on the light blue Blazers with pink/orange/red floral print! The rest are OK, I don't think this is the strongest of the three collections, and the fact that they will be available everywhere makes it lose the exclusivity that the previous collections held. However, there are a lot more models used in this collection rather than just the Dunk and Blazer. The iconic Air Force One will be included for the first time in two distinctive prints alongside the Dunk Hi, Blazer Low and Mid. Based on the prices of the last lot of Nike x Liberty sneakers, I guess these will retail between £70 - £100. Which pair are you feeling?

*for those eager eyes, yes, they have only released photos of 10 out of the 12 styles. The other two are exclusive to Liberty... I wonder what they look like...*

BOXPARK Shoreditch - Worlds First Pop-Up Mall

To add more cool to the uber trendy area of Shoreditch, August will see the launch of the world's first ever pop-up mall in the heart of East London. And you all thought East London couldn't get any "trendier" or "cooler" than it already is, pah, foolish you!

Boxpark pop-up mall will be made up of 60 shipping containers put together to create a two storey building (if you call it that), each of which will house a mix of retail units, coffee shops, art galleries, cafes, and even a bike shop. It will be interesting to see which retailers and brands will be selected for the first round at Boxpark. With leases varying from one to five years, whats cool one day won't be cool the next, the age of disposable fashion eh? This alone will make Boxpark work, because as a pop-up mall, with short leases and flexible terms, it can move with the trends, giving different independent brands an opportunity to have a retail space. The 40 "box-shops" will be on the ground floor and will consist of creative, independent retailers, designer brands, premium streetwear brands, footwear stores, and book shops. The remaining 20 containers will be on the first floor, where you can enjoy a cuppa tea or coffee, read a book, look at some art or maybe a showroom, relax and eat in one of the many cafes/coffee shops/restaurants Boxpark has to offer, all the while stuck in a tin box. How very Shoreditch.

A very interesting concept don't you think? As August comes around, I am sure hundreds and hundreds of people will flock over to Shoreditch to check out the site, and comment on how innovative it is as well as how amazing it looks; no doubt, there will be shitloads of ammmmmaaaazzzzzing photographs of the 60 shipping containers on the blogsphere for us all to admire. *Sarcasm, please get my sarcasm.*

Shoreditch trendy cool jokes and opinions aside, this will be a big hit nonetheless, and many other cities are sure to follow suite, but seriously guys, don't all rush out at once to check out Boxpark, it IS going to be around for five years! Chinese New Year 2011

It is Chinese New Year tomorrow, the year of the rabbit! As per usual, the fam and I will be spending Sunday in and around China Town to join in with the festiveness. It is also my mothers birthday on Saturday, so its double celebrations this weekend! My house smells fucking good as I type this, mother has made a FEAST! A duck has been roasted, pork has been crackled, Nian gao (CNY cake) has been steamed and fried to all its sweet and sticky gloriousness. YUM YUM YUM. OHHH, and we also have meat wrapped in sticky rice which is then wrapped in banana leaves, I have no idea what this is called in English, for now I will call it Bloody Damn Good When Fried.

I would show you guys pictures but it just looks like greasy goodness on my camera. Sorry, google images have better photos, try searching "Chinese New Year Feast."

I see you Christoper Kane graphic tee floating around at 0.50 to 1.11 in a dreamlike state trying to lure and hypnotise me into loving you more. As a COMME des GARÇONS graphic tee gradually floats out, the wonderful tee from Christoper Kane's menswear collection floats in...a whole 30 seconds of video dedicated to the ONE t-shirt. Holy Moles, oki-ni must be feeling the tee as much as I am.

After previously releasing a small range of men's t-shirts alongside his womens range, Christopher Kane has now ventured into a full menswear line for Spring/Summer 2011. I just saw a snippet of Kane's SS11 collection over on Highsnobiety, yeah, I am all over it, AMAZE. There is nothing I love more than an all over full graphic print whether on a dress, tee or cardigan. I think these items will look much better on some women than men; a nice baggy fit tee or slouchy vest that us women can play around with and layer up, give me! Highly doubt I will ever get my hands on a piece of this collection, but its not bad to look at eh? I'm pretty sure I have a men's Nike tee laying around somewhere with an all over space print...or something similar...and maybe a dress too..? I'll stick with those for now :)

Jamie Smith from The XX reworked Adele's latest track, Rolling in the Deep, the other night live at Boiler Room. He absolutely murked the track, it sounds so SICK, as if the original wasn't good enough. Jamie went in hard for this one, cannot rate this remix enough (even with the guy talking over it). Everyone prefers this remix over the original, but I'm going to stay neutral: I appreciate them BOTH! There was a video ripped from the ustream but it got deleted of Youtube *mega sad face* I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!! However, The track is on Blah Blah Blah Science, so click the link and have a LISTEN. I hope it gets released officially. You will not be disappointed, be sure to ignore the guy talking about snow and Ginger Beer over such amazingness. (..I think the excessive use of "!!" and capital letters emphasises how I feel about the track...)

Update: Found another Youtube video of the live set! Lets see how long this one stays up for...

Oh, and I'm really feeling Jamie XX's remix of Gil Scott-Heron's track, New York is Killing Me. Jamie reworked the whole of Gil Scott-Heron's 2010 album 'I'm New Here', renamed 'We're New Here', with the official release on the 21st Feb 2011. Should be a good one, no doubt. As if I need more reason to go back to NYC, totally just added to my 'places to visit in NY' list. This list is getting mega long, especially with all the food recommendations from Yoshi's blog, like for real, she knows how to eat, and how to eat WELL; my kind of girl. She titles food/restaurant posts "Because I am Fat.." : GENIUS. If there is one thing I love more than country hopping, it is trying and eating new foods from the land. Steph and I had more than the odd few bad food experiences in Barcelona: we discovered Time Out Guide to Barcelona (ahem...places to eat section) a little too late.

It has been a while since a pair of Nike's have really taken my fancy. The last pair I bought were the "Gold" (really, it was just yellow) vintage blazers a couple of months back, which got totally ruined in Barcelona. **photograph of me wearing yellow Nike Blazers in a generic small European street**

Prior to those golden bad boys...I honestly cannot remember what else I have bought, it has been that long. In my old age, I am a lot more selective with kicks I like to wear and buy. You are most likely to see me in my staple black and white Air Max 1's. Boring? Maybe. Simple and easy? Most definitely.

I have had my beady oriental eyes on the quickstrike burgundy blazers for a few weeks now. The burgundy colourway will be perfect for the winter days, however, the suede uppers not so much. Really, as if that will stop me, hold tight suede and leather weather protector. Currently eagerly awaiting for my size to be in stock so I can use my sweet ass discount and cop them!

The Air Max 1's in the ACG inspired colourway is pretty epic looking shoe. The Air Max 1s will forever be my favourite Nike shoe, and I am really feeling the purple/orange typically seen in Nike ACG's trainers. As usual, another release for men! Hold tight for the drop in Jan 2011, because they may be avalible for purchase in sizes smaller than a UK 6!

I joined Tumblr. Another platform for me to share stuff that interest me, which may or may not interest you. I even re-blog words of wisdom just because it is so simple on tumlr. But, please forgive me if all these quotes sound so emo-ish, I can assure you I am not depressed/heartbroken/sad/etc, I might just like the way it reads. I will definitely post images of eye candy, just to save space on my hard drive from all the right-click-saving that I so often participate in.

I have yet to find a perfect theme. They annoy me, especially when the borders refuse to match up with the images. I want my tumblr to look like the photograph above. In due course, I'm sure.

Don't think the velvet uppers will cut it with the stupid British weather, but they would look so SO pretty. Available on Beauty & Youth United Arrows now, which is pretty useless to me because it is all in Japanese. I doubt they will be available this side of the sea, meaning I will never get my hands on a pair. Yeah, that sucks major bumbum, but go ahead and admire the greatness.

Monki and Weekday Love

I just came back from Gothenburg, Sweden and boy, did I shop! I have always been a high-street fashion whore but as of late, London has been a bore. Same old stores, mediocre goods. NOTHING APPEALING TO MY EYE! Yes, I saved some money, but it also made me think that I was not interested in shopping anymore, that I lost the desire to shop and to buy lots and lots of pretty clothes *cue the violin*. Now enter SWEDEN *SWWOOOONNNN*. My relatives live in Sweden, yet it has taken me 15 years to go and visit them. Really wished I visited them sooner, just so I could...err...say Howdy...and get my shop on.

I have known about Monki and Weekday for many years. I used to prowl both websites just so I could get my high street fashion fix, to tease myself knowing I could never realistically get my hands on the goods unless I physically bought a plane ticket and visited Sweden. I can honestly say no other high street retailers have excited me as much as Weekday and Monki have. I mean I am in love with the stores!!

The concept of the stores are just sex to the eyes as well. Weekday has this raw feel to the stores: open spaces, metal work against concrete, with the male clothing strictly to the right and women's to the left. Simplicity at its best. Whereas Monki is the total opposite. It is more fun, quirky and colourful with weird display units. Clothes and accessories are laid out on tables, shelves...in see-through balls (similar to those from toy vending machines), basically anywhere there is space, there is something to buy or touch. It was a bit much for my brain, I did spazz out a little when I entered the first Monki store, I didn't know where to look let alone begin to shop!! There were so many clothes I had to go back on myself just to make sure I didn't miss anything. It wasn't even the biggest store, yet I still managed to spend an hour in there and spent around £150...! My brain got a feel for the store after the second visit, so shopping was at ease thereafter. And everything is just so CUTE! The website is TOO CUTE! All those cute little animations and graphics were also used in store and on merchandise. The detail went down to their shopping bags too :-), each time I bought something I would have a different printed carrier bag. I do love a pretty carrier bag. I have to say, the see-through bags weren't so helpful when I bought underwear. Not much could be said for the Weekday shopping bags though, it looked like black carrier bags from your local corner shop with "WEEKDAY" printed in white, but I guess it is fitting with the store's concept. Weekday is also pretty cool because of the instore jean altering service they provide and tee printing facility for the "Weekday Storemade" garments. Every week an in-house or external graphic designer gets to design the print for a t-shirt to sell in store, which makes the tees quite limited and unique. I really wished I took pictures, but I guess you all can just go see for yourselves one day eh! I will post pictures of the goodies I bought at a later date, but for now some of the looks from Monki's September collection. These images are fucking awesome. I want to walk around with stick-on cardboard eyebrows and rose-blushed cheeks.

I have so much to blog about! I want to write the posts in the order that they happened...serious backlog of photographs, but we will see how that pans out. Firstly, I saw the AMAZING Chromeo last Tuesday at C.A.M.P. with the girls. IT WAS SUCH AN EPIC NIGHT, so much to tell everyone but I will save that for the next blog post. The previous week, I had a whirlwind four day trip to Paris with lovely Laura. I went Paris with the London chica's for Christmas 2009 and saw Paris through the eyes of a tourist...staying in a hotel and the usual, but fun, sightseeing. This time round I got to experience Paris with a true Parisieen (Laura is a Frenchie) and what a big difference. I still visited the Eiffel Tower (for the third time in my 21 years of life), but everything else we did/saw/ate was new and well...Parisieen?! I even stayed at Laura mum's (the sweetest mum everrrrr) place, which was so cute and cosy! Once again I spent a good 80% of my cash monies on FOOD. And the cost of food really did not help, jeezzzz - we spent 50 Euros on KEBABS for three people! Granted, they were fucking good but still...it was a Kebab. At the time, EVERYTHING that was within sight and reaching distance, which could be eaten, looked overly appealing for my great big stomach. Hence, the first of my Paris post will be a series of sweet goodies from our trip. All the photos taken by Laura, her pictures make mine look crap.

This is mouth watering. The best cupcakes in Paris are from Berko. If you ever hit Paris up, definitely go there! Miniature goodies always make you want more:

Without sounding like a stupid little teenage girl who has a mad crush: **SCCRRRREEAAAAAMMM**.

I SERIOUSLY CANNOT WAIT FOR "TAKERS" TO BE RELEASED. September. Two more months. Just two more months. The girls and I have been on this mad hype for months ever since we found out about the movie! The cast are too too much for my eyes - as it is for all the other females, I'm sure - ahem, Hood and Proper. They seriously could not have picked a better cast, it is as if Mr. Cast man went and picked them straight from my list of "Hotties to put in a movie once I become a film director" (one of my many life ambitions. Didn't you know? Well, obviously not an established one, directing a 5 minute home movie with friends will do me fine). Who would have ever thought T.I, PAUL WALKER (back to the way he looked in The Fast and The Furious), JAY HERNANDEZ (welcome back, its been too long) and HAYDEN CHRISTENDSEN would all be in a movie together?

I know they are not gangster enough, but, I might have given a brief cameo to Robert Pattison and James Franco just for good measure: you know that little extra helping of sugar to my pie, the whipped cream to my sweet strawberries, the sprinkle of chocolate on my Mocha, that splash of soy sauce on my noodle soup... Oh, lets not forget Josh Hartnett. Yes, most definitely *swwwooonnn*. And, yeah, taken Chris Breezy OUT (blleeeggghhh).

This movie is one for the ladies. I don't care if it is the shittest gangster "crime thriller" movie ever made, it will be watched in the cinema and it will be bought on DVD. The legit £14.99 shit with extra scenes, not the pirate one.

I will even go into HMV, give over a crisp £5 note and buy the poster. Not for the hotness, just for pure laughter. How fucking funny do they all look here:

Just my hand luggage, I wish I was travelling that light.

Seriously, my suitcase is a biggie...I am sure it weighs over the 23kg. There's not even that many clothes, just bloody sun lotion! 3, OK maybe 4 bottles (weighing in at 200ml each..hmm...) of different types of sunscreen. I don't want to get sunburnt, precautions just in case. Plus I spent a lot of mullah on all that so I want to make sure I actually use it!

Oh, and, I am only travelling with one pair of Nikes :-D. Can you believe it? I can't, getting kind of worried, might sneak another pair into my hand luggage. One pair. Sigh. The lucky pair are the Moire's that has sneaked into the photograph above; they are the lightest and most comfy kicks I own (and only £15 WIN WIN WIN).

Need to zoom off now to finish getting ready and sort my suitcase out (last minute as usual). I will be going for full hearty meal, of Nandos, with the girls in a bit. This will be my last meal for the next 24hours or so, as I cannot STAND aeroplane food. The smell, the taste, even typing about it makes me feel like puking.

Guess what kids! In about 60 hour's time, I will be on my way to Goa. GOA! I would have never thought India would be one of the places I would visit in my lifetime, and just because of that, it feels awesome. From a random conversation between my BFFS and I about Goa and its amazing beaches (as seen by Vashy-Bashy's dad) to BOOM. LET'S GO GOA! One month later. Tickets booked.

I am so nervy about the whole trip. First of all: British Airways and their bloody strikes. LUCKILY our flight is still going, albeit with alterations to the usual in-flight services (no biggie for me as I will be out like a bulb, slurring, dribbling, in and out of consciousness, popping as many pills as possible without OD-ING..you know the usual shizz that comes with severe travel sickness...yeah, no fun for anyone, least of all the sufferer..ME!) The whole build up and worry of our flight potentially being cancelled was all too much strain and stress for my over sensitive heart shhesshhh! When we finally found out our flight was AOK, which by the way, was only yesterday SMH KMT, the weight lifted from my chest was unreal. Only now I can feel slightly excited about our 10 day trip. Hot Damn, listening to this track put me right in the mood:

I am really excited to visit "Wax World" in Old Goa, I know for a fact this will be quite funny especially as it is known as India's version of Madame Tussauds. The quality of the wax models won't be of the same standards (I'm guessing the soon to be released RPATTZ waxwork model won't be hiding out there either...), but I did not think the wax models would look so SCARY and like they are made of plastercine:

As exciting as it all sounds, this has yet to happen, soon but not yet. I now have the stress of PACKING. OH HOW I HATE PACKING. The last trip to Paris was a mad dash, I am talking packing 2 hours before, and that was pick-a-clean-pile-of-clothes-and-dump-in-suitcase style packing. It doesn't really work in my favour. I have to be serious this time round. I need to buy some last minute goods tomorrow, not looking forward to that as it means: Shopping on a Saturday in London. Quite possible the most horrible experience EVER, and not to mention, kids on Easter Break. FML. I have no one to blame but myself.

I was supposed to be giving my slack 4GB, poor excuse of an iPod, a spring clean as the memory is 0 and I am currently bored of the same songs getting shuffled, but I am typing this instead. This needs some love too *blog page hug*. Downloaded lots of golden classics from my secondary school days (that's where I met the BFFS) so we can reminisce, and disturb the peace in Goa. Yeah Booiiiii. I might even throw in a booty shake and pop on the beach. BAHAHHAHAHAHA what a sight, but if it makes the girls laugh, I guess it will all be worth it...!

One Day by David Nicholls: A MOVIE?!?!

There are reports flying around suggesting that Jim Strurgess and Anne Hathaway will be starring as Dexter and Emma (Dex and Em <3!) in an adaptation of David Nicholl's romantic novel 'One Day'. Although I only read this book last year, it has already made it into one of my all time favourites. I cannot rate this book enough, JUST READ IT AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THE STORY, THE WORDS, THE CHARACTERS!!!! I really hope the movie lives up to the book, which in most cases it doesn't *ahem Twilight*. The Dex and Em in my head doesn't really look like Strugess and Hathaway, I'm just glad I read the book beforehand so even if the movie is bad, Strugess and Hathaway won't taint how I imagined Dex and Em to be!

One Day is not a book I would usually pick up and read, mainly because it doesn't have the standard theme of death, murder, mystery, crime, serial killers, investigation, "Who did it?", "HUH! I would have never thought he was the murderer" - you know, the typical crime of passion novels - that I would look for in a book. But, boy I'm glad I read it! Never before has a book evoked so much mixed emotions from me through the play of "Dex and Em" as 'Best Friends' who one day realise that they are meant to be. Yes, this does sound corny as hell, but unlike Nicholls, I don't have a way with words which makes a cheese-fest sounding story turn into a witty memorable "I wish this will happen to me on day" love-fest story.

The Beyonga Diva Machine strikes again! This has got to be the most reblogged music video at the moment, so I guess throwing one more 'Telephone' video post out there won't hurt anyone. I just want to say I pretty much love it. Spending 20 minutes of my life watching it twice must count for something. Well, maybe 20 + minutes as I did rewind the dance scene (7mins 43 secs) a few times over to take in the Americana theme at all its glory. Oh, how I adore American flag printed goodies. Strapped and Bounded in Nike Terminator: Belt Pack

My feet are currently strapped in these sick Nike Terminators. If any sneaker could physically ooze sex, then these would be it. If any sneaker could physically talk, these Terminators would say “I’m bad”. If any sneaker could be glued to my feet permanently, it would be these (for now anyway...) They are absolutely fire. Black on black Nubuck uppers? GLUP. Studded belt? Double GLUP.

I haven't really written a post about sneakers in a while. Partly because of the lack of time to write anything at the moment; hence why this blog has been overtaken by masses of youtube embedded post with minimal text (you may as well just visit my favourites on my youtube page at this rate), and partly because there are not that many sneakers out there making me go gaga over. But, spring/summer is coming, which mean fresh new drops. And we all know spring/summer drops always bring the goods to the table. Everything released during spring summer just seem to be hotter, fresher and generally more dope than the kicks we see during the last few months of the year - the sneakers which are supposed to bring us into a new year (not overly impressed).

SS10 sneaker drops are the ones which really tickle my taste buds, making me itch to buy more shoes I really do not need. Bad for the bank balance, and even worse for my attempt to live a life clear of deceit. OK, maybe that is a little dramatic but I do have to lie to my mum and claim new shoes are not new, and that she is losing her memory, "don't you remember me buying these last year mother?" is what I usually tell her. Or worse yet, buying new sneakers, running to my room, adding them to the pile and leaving them for a while until the heat from the previous pair die down...only for me to forget about them...not cool.

Back in 2008, the black and gold Vandal's from "The Heavy Metal Pack" were released. This is a shoe which I regret not seeking and buying! I am a fan because A. They are gold, B. They are Studded and C. The Vandal silhouette happens to be one of my favourites. I am stupid because A. I did not buy them.

Then in 2009, Nike had a lightbulb 'ping!' moment and thought "Hey guys! Lets release the Heavy Metal Pack again...but in white and silver - Gaaahh, we are such geniuses!" Voila, the Vandal was released once again with the same theme.

They are quite cool I suppose. I was about to buy these because A. In the store I worked at before we had a size 5.5 for some odd reason (we don't normally stock half sizes) and I thought it was a sign from above, and B. I never bought the black/gold pair and didn't want to regret not buying these. However, they are no where near as epic as the black/gold colourway, so I decided not to part with my cash.

Back to the present time, for SS10 Nike are revisiting the 2008 Heavy Metal pack AGAIN and releasing another black and gold studded Vandal, this time in junior girls sizes (which is good news for me). They refreshed the shoe by minimising some of the stud work and replacing it with leather uppers, which to be honest, makes the shoe loose some of the original appeal. Now as these are kiddies shoes, they will be more affordable so, maybe, just maybe, I can overlook the lack of studs, accidently encounter them and ... you know... one day own them ...

Nike "Human Chain: How Quick Are You Going To Get Up?"

Forgive me if I'm a bit late with this, I know this was released to coincide with the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 on the 12th February, but greatness needs to be shared and shared again. I absolutely love love love this commercial. Nike does it again; never failing with their advertisements. I recently saw a short video which summed up 2009 for Nike Sportswear at a training session which was pretty awesome, I need to find the video! I was also really impressed with Nike's commercial for the (fairly) new "True City" app for the almighty iPhone, and now this. Featuring a bunch of Nike ambassadors - sponsored athletes - from Lance Armstrong, Deron Williams to Maria Sharapova and a cute little 6 year old Chinese girl (yes, I am biased and what?) doing martial arts, they all connect in a chain of motion through what they do best: be it basketball, tennis, cycling or BMX-ing. From the sweet Chinese kid fly kicking and back flipping with a STICK (gwan there girl!) to Mike Skinner on his BMX riding, jumping then shots of his BMX spin's switching towards shots of a Rodeo spinning around on his bull. Smooth-ass transitions right there. The beginning of the video is epic, absolutly captivating for the opening scene. And the song; such a good choice. Photobooth Is Still Fun If You Are Not A Mac Convert

I am sure looking at pictures of our random mugs on a Sunday night is not the most exciting thing to do, but it is something to do if you know...you're not doing anything exciting at this moment. ;-D.

I do love the Photobooth app on the Mac, I think I love using it more because I don't own a Mac. Team PC fo' life. It is a hella lot of fun though. But, let's be honest here, we all love Photobooth because we love to look at pictures of ourseleves, and of oursleves perfecting a pose. Oh, and the simplicity of taking a million and one pictures until we find a goodie is pretty helpful in the process too. Vanity is a bitch.

Photobooth, at the very least, keeps my friends and I busy for the the best part of 20 minutes.

An Interview With Alex Box

Today I was thinking about this interview I did last year with Make up artist Alex Box, and I wondered why I hadn't put it up yet. So I am!

Alex, who is the designer behind the Illamasqua make up brand, is actually one of the most interesting and coolest women I have ever ever met. She's also an incredible interview subject because everything she talks about is so detailed, and there was hardly anything I wanted to cut from the transcript. It was actually very hard to fit it into my 2,500 word limit. Alex has worked with people from the legendary Karl Lagerfeld (who she says is nothing like his rep) to Gareth Pugh, and is really quite an inspirational character.

Initially I wrote the interview into a profile (and a very good profile it was too) for my university paper, but I destroyed my laptop a little while ago and I only did so much backing up... so the transcript of our conversation is all I have left... sob. I know it's very text heavy but I've tried to break it through with photos of Alex's work (a lot of photos), plus her description of Karl Lagerfeld is worth sifting through the text!

So, you studied at Chelsea College of Art, what was your time there like?

Amazing, actually. It was…incredibly emotional. Because you go through the whole thing of leaving home, and then you go through embracing a new city, and discipline and Chelsea was very… it wasn’t like Goldsmiths, in the sense that they were much more savvy about making an earning out of art, whereas Chelsea still had a bit of that 60s hippy-ness, so it was very much about it coming from the heart - really embracing being an artist as a lifelong thing, and less about making money.

I really found that the whole time I was there I really explored who I was and what I was capable of, and also I started there painting and kind of left as an installation artist…I absorbed all the sectors and developed and I was really into the sculpture department, that was amazing.

And was what your most memorable experience there?

Now and again, very rarely, they would pick three students to do a show downstairs, and I was picked. It was my first real taste of being in the spotlight for what I do... and I think that I...got…the bug! [Laughs] Got the bug for being…centre stage, definitely.

How do you feel that the Fine Art course helped with your make up?

Massively. If anything it was a complete straight line from one to what I do because it's - I mean it sounds a bit goush - but it’s just like painting on a different canvas, you know, it’s a face. If anything, I'm much more of a painter now then when I was then! Because I think you get sucked into styles a little bit and you’re aware of peers, and colleges have their own styles, but now that I'm here it’s much more like excessive painting, like abstract painting. You just pick up colours and you go with it, and you might have a form but it changes shape and it finishes where it finishes. It’s so much like painting. You go into quite a meditative state. It comes from somewhere else.

And yours is especially artistic; it’s so intricate.

Yeah, yeah it is. And the fact that it’s moving too [unlike a painting]. I mean, I love fashion shows for that, because you can do something, and it’ll walking past someone. I make masks. I’ve used lots of techniques I've learnt in my artwork and sculpture defininitly.

Did you always want to be a make up artist?

Not at all, no. It was very very natural progression, almost seamless without me even noticing. I after college I went to work for a make up brand because I needed to earn money to pay for my art work. And I was very elaborate in my own make up. I loved make up myself, and my friend who used to work in the body shop said, 'You do your make up so well, why don’t you come and work for us?', and so I did. And I thought ‘what’s the difference between this paint and paint paint?’ Cause I used to really, go into the hair…and down the back. It took me a long time before I even thought ‘yeah I'm a make up artist’. Cause I never trained in it, and it’s not really meant to happen that way. But I got more popular, and I started getting more jobs and I thought, well that’s what I do.

So, how did the whole range come about?

Well, a chap called Julian Kiniston who is head of an advertising company called Propaganda, based in Leeds saw a picture of one of my looks - a really intricate, black, body with really frantic stuff going on. And his wife said they were looking to make a make up range and they had no idea who to head it… and all they had was a motive, artistic, quite dark, gothic, burlesque make up range. And they saw that [picture] and they said, can it be you that does it, are you interested, and I totally was cause I'd been thinking about [how] there’s such a gap in the market. It was great that it both came together. Becasue I’d been thinking about it, but how on earth could you, do it, fund it, you know.

Illamasqua is very gothic and dramatic, and you said burlesque, that’s a great word to describe it. So where did the inspiration come from, is it your own personal style or was it something else?

Theirs and mine are both very similar, they’re aesthetic, he’s an old Goth and they'd done lots of research into subcultures like piercing and they felt that anything on that slant was not catered for. I mean there’s MAC, but they really didn’t feel that there was a make up range that was emotional led, brand led. It’s product led, so they know juicy tubes and touché éclat but nobody really says you know, 'Chanel really says something to me'. Without boring you with the marketing details, it's like, people like Nokia or they always buy a brand of coffee or whatever, but they don’t have 20 different coffees, from different brands, people stick to that because they like the brand. But with make up, women have an average of 13 different brands. There’s no one brand that we’re attached to.

Loyal to?

Yeah, exactly. It’s very interesting, so basically they had the concept and then got me, instead of the other way around.

I know you’ve done some catwalk shows. Which was your favourite?

Definitely Gareth [Pugh]’s. I mean, the last one was amazing. My most favourite Gareth Pugh one though was... about 4 years ago, it was no make up at all, I just did all sculptures on masks, and that really brought me back to art school. It was so completely about making sculptures and people wearing them, it was all made from whatever I wanted to do. And I loved that…so much. It was so great. It made me think of so many possibilities opened a lot of doors in my head that I’d kind of closed.

I also saw that you worked with Karl Lagerfeld. He’s got a reputation as a... big character. What is he like?

He’s amazing. He’s incredible. He’s a true original. I worked with Karl a lot; I still do work with Karl a lot. He’s such an incredibly imposing figure in fashion and in the world, and he’s quite an enigma because he never really says much about himself and with the glasses and everything, but he’s actually incredibly vivacious, kind, interesting man who’s just buzzing. He’s so young in his mind. He’s got a trunk full of iPods with everything on them, he’s got this underground bunker full of every CD you can imagine, he constantly updates it with everything new in art, and everything new in fashion. He’s just a real pioneer you know, and he really feeds his mind with everything that’s new and he's just a very inspirational, infectious character to be around. He loves dressing up, and black and white, and you know he always has the suit, the glasses.

Was he easy to work with?

Totally. One of the easiest people ever. He’s a complete contradiction because he definitely has developed a character to just get by with I suppose, because he’s actually not... you think he’d be a premaddonna but hes not. He’s actually very pleasant. Really takes care of you as well, has his chef feeding you the whole time and yeah he’s lovely. He’s so fun. And I think he’s obviously in the latter stage of his life and career and still absolutely brilliant and vivacious, but age doesn’t matter that much. Because some people are tyrannical whereas he’s like 'come on, we’ve got to go home', that kind of thing. He never takes his glasses off, even to take pictures, he kind of lowers them a bit, but behind them are the kindest eyes you’ve ever seen. So I think that’s why he wears them cause he just looks [too nice otherwise]. And people are really scared of him definitely. But him himself, he’s just so touchy feely and he’s lovely.

Whose make up, dead or alive, would you love to do?

That’s a good question…hmm. I think... I'd like to do Joan Crawford. Cause I know she mental, I’ve read so much about her, I love the routine she had. I mean those old stars weren’t natural beauties, and it was really about make up. And they worked so closely with their make up artists and had their make up artists for life. And they’d design all these weird techniques and things, and I love that period of time when it was really all about - there wasn’t so much surgery - so it was all about creating something out of the bare minimum... and they had all these weird tricks. A really old Hollywood movie star.

Are you really into old Hollywood then? You’ve got the red lips, the black eyeliner, the eyebrows…

Totally, yeah [laughs]. Absolutely. And Jane Crawford and Leigh Bowry I’d really like to do as well.

I suppose that time was the most artistic phase make up went through, because it was actually painting on lips, they had to really work hard to create beauty when there wasn’t any.

It’s weird because there was surgery, people don’t realise, but not like now. It's not that 25 year old have surgery, then you’d have tapes and lifts and your wigs and camera angles and all that. They used to make things out of wax and putty and put them down the sides of their nose, it was amazing. It was a real art form.

Is there any advice you’d give to any students that want to break into the industry, how to succeed?

Um... just to... it sounds silly really... but just to don’t dream it, be it. I think that, if you do that thing of faking it to make it, you have to just put yourself in that situation and if you - no matter what people say to you - if you’ve got a vision keep knocking on that door. You know, because it's ever so easy to just go under coz its really difficult, but just keep thinking it's gonna happen because it has to. If it doesn’t what else are you gonna do? In the sense of, you’re an artist and it has to happen, you have to believe in yourself 100%. And be really tenacious and actually very brave with your beliefs in that way. It’s so incredibly easy to get knocked down, I’ve felt like that. When I used to make 20 phone calls to the same people. I used to have a list of names and I just rang them pretty much every day and even when it felt like I wasn’t doing anything, I had that to do. You have to be really disciplined.

You can’t just think you’ll fall into it.

If it does, there’s something wrong! If you do get things like that, you won’t appreciate it and you won’t work with it and it will go again. That’s the thing, it comes as it should. And I realise that know after 11 years of it, that everything has come when it should have done. If this had happened when I was 22 I probably wouldn’t have been able to cope with the pressure of it. The thing is now I think people are so much more media savvy and there is that ‘I want fame now, I want it to happen now, I deserve the best’ and you do, but you also have to work really hard because its such a microclimate in college because you have the college stars and you do well and you rise to the top think that’s how it is. And then when you come out, you have to start all over again.

Coming back to college - since our university is so well known and there are so many successful people to come out of it, do you think that going to Chelsea has helped you more then if you’d gone somewhere else?

Definitely. Especially where Chelsea was - on the Kings Road, just walking down the Kings Road, being around the centre of London, And also being in such a fashionable place, whether I liked the fashion or not, was very important, and also the teachers or lecturers there were very much about getting the active artists there who had just left college. I used to have Jason Denous be my tutor, I met Brian Eno, all these people, really fundamentally incredibly inspirational people.

I think Chelsea and Saint Martins have really got that thing where they’ve still got that glamour to them, and I think when you know that your college is doing well and it's revered it makes you proud to be there. And it’s so hard to get into. And so if you got into them you felt proud. Especially me, coming from a small town (Grimsby) we were really pushed to go to London, you know like, 'If you're gonna go for it, go for it, don’t be all [makes face...] "nahhhh". Just do it.' I was nervous and I was thinking ooh Loughborough, maybe Birmingham…and then my friend said to me, if you are gonna move away, just go for it cause you'll really resent not. Then when me and the other person I went with got into Chelsea I felt like I’d really achieved something. And also that... you just felt glamourous. It was a glamorous college, people looked good, they worked hard, and you felt it had a lot of history behind it.

Are you still proud of it now?

Yeah, totally. Because also a lot of people who went to Chelsea were sort of poser girls who were just wasting a couple of years (and you saw that straight away) but then you also saw the people that really wanted to be there and they've gone onto do things. And that’s the same as life, you know the people who are going to do things are appreciating their surroundings and take that and use it to do something for good, whereas people that haven’t…don’t. Or take it for granted. I met some great people there. I met great people through all the colleges.

So you came down from Grimsby and you live in London now. What do you like best about London?

Oh god, everything. It’s really funny; I was thinking the other day, other then New York I really couldn’t see myself living anywhere else because it’s just a massive place but so small at the same time. I can sit in a coffee shop in the centre of town and see more people then I ever would back home and its kind of it feels so much like home, and its always moving, and its so vivacious, and its so charismatic. I think also because the water runs through the middle, it feels like its being renewed all the time. I travel a lot, I go away to Paris a lot, which is absolutely stunning. And I come back to London and London always feels so young, and I know it’s a cliché but it does, it rejuvenates itself. And the fashion here’s amazing. We really don’t realise it until you go away anywhere else, and you come back everybody, every kid, looks cool. They've got some look going, you know? It’s just not like that anywhere else. It really isn’t. And its different everywhere, like London is made of little villages. All stuck together. It’s really defined by that, it’s incredible. Especially now more so with everyone having some sort of adornment, you know plugs and stretching, hair colour. I absolutely love it.

And there’s no better place to be really, if you’re an artist.

London is just very much full of the people who were attractive or courageous and really wanted to leave the tows so London’s full of a nice pick of small towns. People took what they had here. My town's full of old friends and it's lovely, but it was also narrow-minded, quite prejudiced and not inspirational. Where else are you gonna go, if not London, if you’re drawn by shiny things?!

Do you go back to Grimsby a lot?

Not really, I go about twice a year. My family and my friends still live there.

I suppose it helps you stay down to earth though, grounded.

Yeah I love it, because there so extremely not like the people that I know here, or work with, who I don’t associate with [all the time] I mean I’m not hanging out with Karl Lagerfeld at night! But it’s lovely that, between that complete dichotomy of ‘shut up, you’re up yourself’, to ‘ahh Karl Lagerfeld!’

Back to the make up, obviously you had a lot of input into how it looks, the shades and everything, but how did that work?

I went back to colour wheels and Panton books actually. I initially made swatches of anything from newspapers to bits of material, of colours that I like, and wanted, and as a make up artist know that I need. Existing colours I had, but maybe wanted a bit more of this, or that, and then I had to make Panton references and I matched them as close as I could and then I went to the place in Berlin where they make them and then we just changed them until it was right. In general we’ve got about 125 eye shadows.

I had to narrow it down from 200, which was insane because nobody even owns 125 eyeshadows, let alone 200. I’m so in love with colour. So when they said you can have colour, I was like [makes excited face]. But we’ve got the most amazing blue lip gloss and luminous green lip-gloss and dark weird matte nail varnish. We’ve made it so the pencils can be used anywhere on the face, I wanted it as much like an artists palette as possible. So the pencils are eyes, lips, freckles, eyebrows, and you can use them anywhere, you can use the lip gloss on your eyes. We wanted to explode those boundaries where people said 'this has to go here', and say 'well no, this can be used anywhere.'

And for my last question… what three things would you take on a desert island?

I have thought about this actually. I would take…my boyfriend. I would take…you can’t take a limitless music catalogue can you?

Yeah you could, an iPod that had infinite memory.

Yeah, and that had a satellite link up that was constantly recharging and updating and had the biggest back catalogue in the world. And I would take a boat in case I wanted to get off the island! Well, then you can always go and come back.

Brit Award Recovery/Things I Have Cooked Recently

OMG today I had to cover last nights Brits (find my stuff here if you so wish) and I feel like I need a straight drink now. Cropping pictures of Lady Gaga dressed as a wedding cake has driven me slightly manic. I'd write about it more but I just can't take it.

Damn you Gaga.

Instead of having a drink I'll calm myself down with food.

It's not the neatest thing I've ever made, but I'm going to say its rustic.

Apple Pie... a bit neater but maybe needed to make stiffer pastry.

Obviously I didn't make Fluff...

BUT I did make rice krispie squares using it, and they tun out all marshmallow-y and delicious. Just melt chocolate, butter and the fluff in a pan, and then add the rice krispies and put in the fridge. SO easy, Totally do it.

Red for Luck, Red for Love

Happy Chinese New Year guys! Hope you all had a good one. If you are out and about in London on Sunday (21st), be sure to hit up Chinatown to watch the dragons dance, eat (overpriced) street food and maybe bump into a relative or two so you can receive your lucky red envelopes (...with money inside durr...)

If that isn't enough to lure you in, maybe you will bump into me looking out for my relatives ;-) and eating the overpriced satay chicken, fishballs with chilli sauce and some bland chow mein. The vibe will be unreal, because you know how the Chinese do it! They will impress, and impress you more, like we do every year.

Wear red to keep within traditions because it is lucky :-). I wore red on 14th specifically for the first day of CNY, but it just so happened that the date coincided with Valentines Day. People must have thought I was THAT sad, corny and cheesy to wear red for the day of love. *PUKE*. This is one of the only red tops I actually like and own, so I guess I will have to recycle this outfit come Sunday 21st. Oh, and its not clear in the photograph, but check out my watch ring! Its like a mini Casio. Love Love! Time keeping is a must.

A New Job and a Shameless Plug

So as of this week I start as Blog Editor of OSOYOU.com. Woo!

This morning when I was looking for stories to post I discovered some things.

Peaches Geldof (who I seem to mention a lot on here... what is up with that) is trying to start 'Cray-Cray'. As in 'crazy'. As in, 'Peaches Geldof is Cray-Cray'.

Also, Paris Hilton doesn't have a friend who will say 'Dude, your dress is totally see-through, maybe don't wear it with a thong on stage in front of a lot of people and cameras'. And also, 'Paris, you're a bit drunk, let's get you off that stage and into bed.'

And apparently Kate Middleton is stealing my dream of opening a cool bakery. Except mine will be in Covent Garden or Manhatten. To be honest though, if she becomes queen she wins hands down no matter where her shop is. Even if it's in Hackney.

Not a huge fan of Valentine's Day to be honest, it is overly corny for my liking especially if the activities of the day mean going to a restaurant with other loved up couples. Overkill.

Insa: Valantine's Gift to Deptford

You all know I have a soft spot for tacky stuff, especially with fake double C's. If I could afford the real deal, I would be all over it, but I can't at this moment in time. Maybe in 5-10 years. Maybe if my mother is feeling particularly generous. Or rich. Maybe if I win the lottery. Maybe if someone sent me some Chanel goodies. None of this is likely to happen anytime soon, so I am happy to stick with my Chanel "inspired", big fake double interlocked C prints on oversized tees and admire the hot-tacky vintage "Chanel" earrings my sister picked up at some jewellery store in NYC. It only makes me that much closer, not far now guys, not far.

Graffiti artist Insa (y'all remember those bad ass heels that were featured on almost every blog right?) has just completed a 38tonne piece named "Heartfelt" on a train in the middle of Deptford. LOOKS FUCKING SICK! Prints of THE DOUBLE C'S, GUCCI G's and LV's on upside down hearts (aka juicy bumbums), all over a train carriage! Hot damn, I love it. From Insa, with love:

Alicia Keys Feat Beyonce - Put it in a Love Song

I feel like such a pervert after viewing these candids recently posted on Idolator from the shoot of Alicia Keys's new single, 'Put it in a Love song' featuring Beyonce. I feel more like a pervert because Beyonce's body looks banging and I can't help but stare! Jeez. Jeez. Jeez. Hardbodied! Ms. Key doesn't look half bad either. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, these two diva's work, work, work it in their their tribal/carnival inspired gear.

Not overly keen on the song, but I'm still excited to see the video...well, any video with Beyonce featured really.

McQueen: The King of British Fashion

I know I'm a few days late but I didn't think I could neglect to write about the tragic and shocking death of Alexander McQueen on Thursday. Even though I never met him, I felt ridiculously and probably unreasonably sad about the news. To choose to die, and in such a horrible way, really pulls on peoples hearts, and the fact that he seemed to have done it because of his beloved mothers death makes it all the more sad.

The thought of one of the most current and progressive designers becoming part of the past tense of fashion history is so strange... Lady Gaga has barely taken off his Spring 2010 Armadillo shoes, and now they'll probably be the last innovation of McQueen. I can't say I was ever a massive fan of them, but you can't deny their striking uniqueness.

It's also really funny because there are a lot of dresses I've admired over the years on the red carpet, all so different that I'd completely forgotten (or possibly not even noticed) that they were all by the same designer.

He did romantic and feminine amazingly, but was also the master of the sexy, biker chic style that's been in fashion for a while now. Who could forget the skull print scarves that every celebrity and their cousin owned? This rose covered piece from his 1996 collection is one of my favourite couture gowns ever.

Also from working at The Nod I developed an obsession with looking at his tailoring on Net-a-Porter - he started out on Savile Row, and was said to be one of the best tailors in the world. Though I've never been lucky enough to get close enough to one of his gowns to even touch it, let alone try it on, people said the same applied to his dresses - the Editor in Chief of Elle said "So beautiful are his sharply cut dresses that they slip over every curve. This man understands women, you'd think, as you zipped up the sexiest of black dresses."

The world really has lost an incredible talent, but at least he will always be remembered through his designs and his legacy. After all, if we'd never had Lee McQueen, we wouldn't have low rise jeans.

Fafi x Adidas Originals SS10

Next month will see the release of yet another awesome Fafi x Adidas Originals collaboration. The apparel in this collection are very much folk and Mexican inspired, a bit different to previous collections for Adidas originals. Fafi had a lot more input and say into what went down with her SS10 goodies for Adidas, which has resulted in a more personal collection, “Unlike lasts collaborations with Adidas, I really wanted to be involved in graphic design as well as styling, all the pieces are inspired by my own closet, stuff I found in vintage stores or during my trips.”

To be honest, at first glance I wasn’t overly excited, but after peeking the Fafi x Adidas fashion spread in French magazine Jalouse, I’m speechless...apart from “WHERE THE HELL CAN I GET THAT VARSITY!!!” GAHHHHH. I love it. The styling for the clothing is insane. I want it all. I must have the blue/green varsity jacket at least. I really cannot wait to see it in store.

The illustration inside this leather beauty is fucking sick. And check those big, round gold buttons...hot!!

The kicks feature her iconic sexy mamacita cartoons, as per usual; it wouldn’t be the same without them. My sister and I have been a fan of Fafi for years now! It is so nice to see so many collaborations with big brands Fafi has had over the last few years.

Fafi has also included this sick suitcase for the collection! Don’t know where or if I would ever use it, but for collection sake, and just because it is damn pretty, I want one.

These are three of the eight pairs of Luxury sneakers set to be released around May time from Jimmy Choo's pre-fall 2010 collection. A bit of a contrast alongside all the other sky-high heeled goodies in the collection! A step in the right direction? These are definitely not targeted towards the sneaker heads of the world, they will however allow for women to appreciate the comfort and look of wearing sneakers, especially those who wouldn't usually be caught dead in them! I can actually see these as the chill-out shoe for the fashion editors of the world. The idea of luxury sneakers are not my cup of tea, but who am I to criticise, each to their own eh! I think I'll stick with my Nikes. They remind of Supra's, you know those sneakers that Weezy killed?

I know everyone and their dog knows about the horror that is photoshopping in magazines nowadays, but I've never given it much thought beyond 'yeah, duh, of course they don't really look like that'. And to be honest if I was going to be in a magazine, I would be grateful for some photoshopping 'help'... thinner arms... more even skintone... smaller cheeks...

HOWEVER today I was browsing the Huffington Post (which, if I can take a moment to plug it, I really love) and I saw a story on Kourtney Kardashian (whom I am normally oblivious to, never having watching her show) relating to her 'post baby body'.

I really hate these stories, by the way. They are the most irrelevent piles of crap, just making people feel insecure. Because without a trainer to wake you up at 4am and crates of wheatgerm smoothies delivered to your door, there is no way you are going to lose 2 stone in a month. None.

Anyway. I deviate. The image on the front of the magazine is on the right, and on the left is the original, before they let the picture department loose on it:

They have literally just erased her stomach! I am so appalled. How magazines can try and sell themselves with completely fabricated stories, I don't understand. So not only is this story advertising an already highly unhealthy view of weight loss, the example they are using hasn't even happened! They may as well have Beyonce on the cover, telling everybody about how happy she is since she learnt to fly.

And not only did they remove her baby weight and then try to pass it off as the result of a diet, they changed the colour of her top... and her head. HER HEAD?! What the hell was wrong with her head??

Friday night, Serious about Street Dance at the Indig02, inside what was previously known as The Millennium Dome (what a fad!). The ladies got together to support our girl Jodie dance her feet away on stage and boy did she do her thang! This was the last opportunity for us to see her perform in London before she relocates to Cold, Cold Glasgow :-(. Following her dreams, chasing the cold to grab this awesome opportunity, be it without dance, friends or family! Go getter. She'll be back soon enough, just the start of her journey. Good willing, want, need, a load of lust, many window shopping trips to Kurt Geiger (and any Kurt Geiger stockist for that matter), a Kurt Geiger sale...oh, and also my lovely generous sister, have all contributed to bringing these bad ass Samira boots into my life.

Finally.

I remember it was a clear, yet breezy Septembers day when I first set my eyes upon the Samira boots. September, September, September: it took three months before I could get my greasy little mitts on them. I wrote about them twice, here and here. And now, all thanks to my sister who just happened to walk into a Kurt Geiger sale and found them for £99, they are mine, £150 less. "Heeeelllloooo Christmas present for my lovely big sister", must have been the thoughts whirling through that ever so considerate brain of hers.

The first time I wore them out :-)! I do have a teeny little complaint about them, the ruffles. They just so not sit! It is so annoying having to constantly adjust the strap to the heel so that the ruffles stay where I want them. When they do stay, for however long they decide too, the Samira booty is an absolute angel!

I am really trying to post more regularly, just like I used to when I first started out. I am going to post about everything and anything I desire, this is MY (and Stephie's) blog after all! I really need to stop worrying about what people think because I end up questioning myself, not just within blogging and writing, but also with every other aspect of my life. Which in turn, me'thinks, has led to confidence issues? AhHhhhhahahah what a loser! So anyway, for 2010 -yes, a bit late, one month in -I am going to get back on my blogging grind, fix up my time management problems (quite possible the most pathetic reason to get pulled up about at work and LOOSE MONEY OVER, SMH), get organised (what happened? I was THE most organised person when I was at university, organisation was my OCD!), read more and more and more, write more and more and more, shop less (...still in consideration, not set in stone yet...) and travel more.

The Noodle wants to travel, she wants to explore!

Save money, and then use it to get the hell out of London for short periods of time...anywhere, everywhere, I want to go there, I want to be there. Sweden, France, Mauritius, New York, Portugal. I want to add more to the list, so...

Goa, India...Booked, Booked and Booked!! My first trip to Asia. I will be in India in two months. Fugging Awesome. Never thought those words would come out of my mouth or typed with the tips of my fingers. Goa, India, two months time. Cannot wait.

I have many of times had 'bahahah' moments from reading the funny Google searches which lands people on this blog. One of the classics has to be something along the lines of "Hot Chicks in nylon Leopard Print". I know where all the keywords come from and why someone would end up on this blog, non of which by the way has anything to do with some kinky nonsense, you dirty google searching pervert!

AND YES, THEY ARE MINE (...soon...in the post at the moment, thanks to my friend Ms. Orangina who kindly ordered them online for me) I love them, the detailing from the left and right lace locks: one says 'Mars', the other 'Mike', the "Do You Know?" printed inner lining and "Fresh Since 1985" tag line printed on the insole (which I know for a fact will annoyingly fade with wear..) I am so excited to get mine, the smallest size we had in store was a men's UK 6, which were mahhooosssiiivveee, so glad Ms. Orangina found them online in kiddies size for moi! Oh, and check out this new Nike iPhone app which was released today. It is called "True City - Make the Hidden Visible". A app which gives you the low down on all the latest Nike happenings, best places to shop Nike, "Nike Worthy" places to eat/chill/hang out/etc and also countdown on hype product releases, not to mention the ability to share all this with the rest of the Nike community! One for all you die-hard Nikeheads out there no doubt. Nike sure knows how to create hype and hysteria, whilst keeping all there lovers and friends happy and on their toes. LOOKS AWESOME, makes me want a Iphone just so I can have this app. Currently only European cities are available to view on the True City app, but I am sure other cities across the world, especially ones in the US, will be up soon! I have to say, this is similar to a paper-map which I got in the Mercer street Nike Sportswear store, New York. Obviously, this app is a hella more advanced, but it has the same concept of showing, via symbols, the best places to shop Nike/eat Nike Style/chill Nike Style/etc in Manhattan. I LIVED BY THAT MAP back in February '09. I hit EVERY (shopping) spot on that map. I still have it till this day, and will use it again. Gahhhh..I WANT THIS APP so bad. I want to see it in action!

I took Melbournese Kayta on a London shopping tour the other day, which was full of freebies, Tube hopping all over London, and £4 Marc by Marc Jacobs bags!!! (OK, so the bags are like plain patent black..but still..!) We drank overpriced Starbucks (Eggnog Lattes are the bomb), snacked on hot Cinnamon doughnuts and ate Bento's at my favourite Japanese restaurant, Misato. All in all, this trip made us very satisfied females for the day!

Currently, typing this whilst my sister is painting my nails -opting for half yellow/black zebra and blue, oh, and trying out my new Essie 'Matte About You' which turns glossy nails matte!!!- so this post is a tricky one, hence the lack of words! I also have 3 hours to tidy my mess of a room, pack AND get ready for my work Christmas party! I am effed. Wish me luck! Paris tomorrow, so excited!!!!

This week we got a new uniform at work which is for the Nike (RED) "Lace Up, Save Lives" fight against AIDS campaign. Go to your nearest Nike store and buy some red laces to support the cause, they are £4 a pack but all profits go to charity (minus the cost of production)! By the way....CHECK OUT MY GUNS!!! I see muscle definition, proud moments guys, proud moments.

Creepers...but not quite

I got these little plimsolls in Topshop the other day. Not sure if I want to keep them for numerous reasons, but it is mostly to do with the lack of funds (blah..whats new?!) and also because they look slightly like slippers on my feet...! I think they look like Creepers no? I love how Creepers look on people, and the shape of the actual shoe...I just cannot deal with the platform myself, so these are the perfect alternatives due to the flat soles. I am two minds. I had to borrow some dollars from my mother for these grey suede lace up heeled trainer boots from Topshop (wow, what a mouthful):

Which are a snip at only £40!!!!! I just really, really want a nice pair of lace up booties for winter time. I was supposed to get these "Samira" boots from Kurt Geiger, but who was I really kidding. Dropping £250 on a pair of boots is not a good idea:

So I rush into Topshop after work to try those lace up trainer heeled boots. Saw them, loved them. Put them on my feet. I just couldn't do it!! I could not walk around in them without feeling like Mariah Carey pre-Nick Cannon days. AKA heeled Timberland boots days. Shopping with a mission to buy a particular item is a bloody nightmare! I just want warm feet this Christmas. And, also for when I go to Le Parre (ahem, Paris) in December for a romantic break (with my two besties ;-D). Anyway, I bought those flat-Creeper looking things instead which are very un-Carey-esq don't you think? Now I am thinking of getting some suede Serena Dr Marten's:

Luella ella ella ay ay ay

Yesterday was a sad day for Alexa Chung and I, and British fashion in general. Fashion label Luella has lost its backing and is no more. This has completely ruined my 'Things To Buy Before Death' list (you know, for when I win the lottery) because now I will probably never own a Luella dress or bag (and if you've ever touched a Luella bag you'd understand).

Just to highlight what a loser I am, I even dreamt about it last night! If you're unfamilar with Luella Bartley, her clothes are pretty, feminine and traditionally English-garden type, but with a quirky twist. Basically it's my ideal style in a brand, if I were rich enough to buy what I wanted in Selfridges and if I actually shopped with my wardrobe in mind instead of just buying random items. Also if I ever took off my jeans.
There's even now a twitter campaign to save Luella, called... saveLuella, actually. Which could happen maybe if someone else backed her.
Seriously though, God only knows what Alexa Chung is going to do now, she probably even sleeps in Luella. Probably this dress.
Alexa, if you need someone to talk to... I'm here for you.

I have typed the word 'fist' so much in the last few hours, and now the word just looks plain weird. It doesn't even look like it is spelt correctly anymore.

I am so excited for the 20th November because New Moon (my favourite book out of the Twilight saga) is finally going to be released! ...and to add to the hype...midnight screening...at my local Cinema!!! Got my ticket in advance with a couple of my home girls today (one of whom didn't even know what the movie was?! WTF! Where have you been women). I. Cannot. Wait. One minute past midnight on the 20th November. You really do not want to be anywhere else on this night :-D. This is about the most exciting thing I have to look forward to at the moment. Sigh. I just want to add I hate my work uniform. I hate that I have to wear it (more or less) 5 out of the 7 days in the week. I hate that this is what I wear 20 out of the 30 odd days in a month. I hate that we only get a new uniform every three/four months. I hate that this uniform has numbed my brain from knowing what else to wear outside of work. I hate that I cannot do much with a blah-tee and "dark denim". I hate that I am still constantly accumulating masses of clothes, without much opportunity to wear the new goods. I hate that these newbies to my makeshift wardrobe (carry bags, chair, floor) never get to see the light of day because, in all honesty, I end up forgetting about them. I hate that this is all the result of my work uniform. What a vicious circle.

How do you feel about wearing mixed metals? There is an old wives tale (or maybe its just a Chinese thing) that says you should not wear gold and silver together because "it is not good", meaning it brings a bad aura. Meh. I'm quite superstitious, and I do not appear to be having the best of luck for the last few days...can I really blame it on the jewellery I am wearing? Then again, none of my jewellery is actually real gold, or real silver, but merely coloured metals, so maybe this old saying need not apply here? My friend once told me to stop being so superstitious because bad things happen to everyone and not just to bad people, and this is the same as good things. Believing something as silly as stepping on three drains or getting doo-dooed on by a bird (neither of which relate back to good or bad luck in reality) to change something from happening is just stupid, "Its pure coincidence", he said. Whether I believe him or not, I still remember those stupid words. Oh, and yeah with the whole jewellery thing, I found a way to bypass the "badness" coming to me by telling myself it is OK if I wear gold on one hand and arm, and silver on the others. Don't judge me. And, no, I do not look like a crazy gypsy lady...nor do I look like a Chinese women trying to sell jewels for "goott priceee".

I am totally digging this Vamp-duster 2 finger ring. Mighttyyy fine! Before anyone comments and say "I love your ring!", its not mine yet. But, you can get yours at Verameat (for $110...why why why). Oh, its so hot.

A Different Kind of Cool

I swear, I do not remember me as a kid looking this cool. I don't get it? I know its a new time, new era, but seriously, if the kids aged 10-ish are looking like little hipsters there is really no hope for the twenty-somethings of the world. Obviously, not all kids dress like mini-trendsters waiting to be snapped by the likes of Mark 'The Cobrasnake' (not that 10 year olds should be at those parties until the early hours of the morning drinkin', smokin' with big things poppin'...but you know what I mean...), and some do actually dress like the child they are supposed to be. Anyway, I want to be down with these kids, just so they can bring me an extra helping of cool and cute.

And, its not just the decade old kids that are killing it style wise either, it the under 18s too. I work in a shopping centre in a relatively well off area of London. Every time I see them, they are head-to-toe in the latest 'in trend' goods. Yes, their look is predictable, yes, they all look the same, but there is no doubt that they can all pull it off and look good. Gosh, they make me feel old and un-cool.

And, teenage boys, please stop looking older than 20. Because, I as a 21 year old female, along with many of my 21 year old (sometimes +) female friends, really really do not appreciate being deceived into checking you guys out...then on closer inspection noticing that you are still a kid (in our eyes). It really is not fair. Thank You Please.

There really is something spectacular about tacky 'in-your-face' branding that just appeals to me . Be it the real deal logos, or, even better, the fake tack! I am not saying I would rock a replica bag (thanks, but no thanks, really), but a high street store using the iconic interlocked C's as 'inspiration' on a tee? Yes, the fuck please.

Rocked nicely with the 'never leave my thighs' jeggings (for the next few months anyway) and my brand spanking new Nike Air Maxims! From £90 to a sweet £27.90? Hell yes, I copped them, even if I am pound-less for the rest of the month. Although I have to say, they are the LEAST comfortable kicks I own. These badboys actually make my feet ache, and people are supposed to use Nike Plus with these and run in them? That's a joke because I can't even walk around Oxford Street for four hours when I wear them.

I love my polka dot shirt (even if it does look like part of some scrubs from the hospital), and these kick-ass "jeggings" from hennes are going to be glued to my legs this winter. Love them. I have discovered a bunch of Tumblr blogs and have spent ages and ages looking at pretty pictures on them. A lot of the time images are repeated through various tumblrs but it is still easy to the eye, which is why I am so addicted to them at the moment. The cleaner looking the thumblr blog is, the more likely one is going to view it, its a change from the usual Blogger blogs! Something fresh eh?

I am having a hard time dealing with the lack of student finance now that university has finished. Because, typical me, I am still spending like I have student loans etc. It sucks ass man. With the expiration of student loans, comes the riddance of student travel discount (30%) and be-gone sweet student discount (10%) in my beloved high street stores such as Topshop, BikBok, Aldo and the like. My NUS card expired in August, but believe you me, I am still using it and acting as if I didn't know it has expired/"waiting for my new one to come". Lame? Kind of (especially if you get busted), but that 10% makes a difference between whether an item is coming home with me or not. Student discount also applies in cinemas - its a steep jump for my pockets to go from paying £4 to £7 for a movie ticket smh. Next step, I have to find my cheaply made university student ID and do some DIY to some how rid of the expiry date, then purchase some sticky-back plastic to mend it all back together. Yay, I have a mission to complete.

I pretty much got student discount on most of these toys, unless they were given to me as a present :-)

Currently listening to Joy Williams - Speaking a Dead Language. Just watched the new episode of Grey's Anatomy and this song was playing during a sad scene. I hate, but love (?), that this is the only show on TV that can break me and make me shamefully tearful after every episode. These are a hella more wearable than the Hello Kitty x Asics collab that are to drop this month. I love them, they are too cute ^_^. These have been made in celebration for Hello Kitty's 35th anniversary, with HK printed all over the shoe in a gel-like substance. This makes the shoe less tacky and less OTT cutesy "Kawaii"! Perfect for the older, and more discreet HK fans eh? What really does it for me is the use of her famous, sweetass, bow as the lace lock! EPIC. I guess I am going to jump back on the freestyle game! To be honest, I haven't bought a pair of Reebok FS in a hot ass minute (the over production of so many styles on the high street makes the shoes fail on the "cool" part; seen as every Amy, Janine, and Jenny own a pair now!). 1) James Bond and Vesper Lynd
He's a womanizing bastard and she's an ice queen. But then, despite the lack of traditional Bond Girl Slow Motion Bikini Moment they fall in love, he quits his job as super spy to marry her, then she gets killed, and he spends the rest of his life in a vengeful rampage and never loves another woman again. If I'm ever killed by an evil movie villain, that is exactly how I expect my future husband to behave. (And omfg at that scene where he licks her fingers. O. M. F. G.)

2) Isidor Straus and Ida Straus
Rose and Jack are way overrated: the real romantic couple of Titanic were Isidor and Ida Straus, you know, the old man and woman who lay embracing on their bed as the titanic sank. SO cute. That actually happened too, they were real people; Ida said she would honour her wedding pledge by staying with Isidor wherever he went. Actually maybe they shouldn't be on this list then. Whatever.

3) Lancelot and Guinevere
King Arthur's wife and his best friend fall in love and have an affair. When Arthur finds out, someone persuades him to sentence her to be burnt at the stake. But Lancelot rescues her from the burning pyre, and so Arthur goes into a war with him. Mordred (Arthur's evil brother depending on what legend you read) plots to kidnap and marry Guinevere, and take Arthur's throne. To cut a long (long, long) story short, Arthur stops him, but gets killed, and as penitence Guin spends the rest of her life as a nun, Lancelot spends his as a hermit, and they never see each other again. :(

4) Noah and Allie
From The Notebook. They fall in love and stay together their whole lives, and then they die together solely by the power of their love. Inspiring. (Future Husband, take note. Obviously I don't believe in power-of-love-induced death. Which is why when I'm married I'll be keeping a vial of cyanide in the bathroom for him. I'm thoughtful like that.)

5) Ross and Rachel
They also get the title of 'funniest couple' Even though they were so on a break, Rachel gave her job at Louis Vuitton up for him and they lived happily and hilariously ever after (in my imagination).

It's somewhat disturbing to me that most of the couples on my list end up dying, or living miserably in tragic circumstances. Obviously I have some kind of issue.

(*I would have put Romeo and Juliet on here but I am of the opinion that if they had lived, after a month or so they would have had an argument about Romeo spending too much time at the tavern or whatever, and Juliet laughing a bit too loud at Mercutio's jokes and broken up. I mean come on, they were like 14; it so wouldn't have lasted.)
